How to arrive from the Conference venue? Take Tram 40 (dir: Herbeckstrasse) or 41 (dir: Poltzleindorf) from Spitalgasse to Aumannplatz, then walk uphill through Türkenschanzstrasse. Travel time ~20 mins.

 Visit to the Great Refractor

During the Reception event at the Observatory (see above), participants are invited to join one of the guided tours of the Great Refractor at the Dome of the Observatory. If interested, please sign up at the Registration desk on Monday morning.

 Junior Researchers Event

After the conference, we’ll take public transport to Schwedenplatz in the city center. There, you’ll find plenty of dinner options for every taste and dietary need (see suggestions marked on the map in blue). If you prefer, you can also grab a takeaway and enjoy your meal by the Danube Canal (see green marker for some steps to sit).

At about 19:00 or 20:00 we will change to the “Wiener Gürtel” (“Belt”). There are several bars underneath the U6 in the so-called “Gürtelbögen” (arches in the old city wall). We will probably start at “Chelsea” (U-Bahnbögen 29-30, 1080 Wien). Then we might go on to “Loop” (U-Bahnbögen 26, 1080 Wien), “Café Carina” (U-Bahnbögen 42, 1080 Wien), or “Weberknecht” (Lerchenfelder Gürtel 47, 1160 Wien). Later we might also go to a club, “The Loft”, if you like to dance (Lerchenfelder Gürtel 37, 1160 Wien).
