Rationale

Over the past decade, advancements in observational surveys, simulations, and data analysis techniques have revolutionized our understanding of star formation in the Interstellar Medium (ISM). Space observatories such as Herschel, JWST, and Gaia have unveiled the intricate physical and chemical structures of the ISM with unprecedented detail. At the same time, ground-based interferometers like ALMA have provided a window into the highly dynamic behavior of gas across diverse star-forming environments. The growing resolution and statistical depth of recent surveys now enable connections between galactic and extragalactic studies, bridging scales and contexts in star formation research. Meanwhile, state-of-the-art simulations have reached new levels of resolution and accuracy, allowing researchers to investigate multi-scale physical processes self-consistently and compare simulations directly to observational data. The integration of novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools further enhances the systematic analysis of these increasingly complex datasets, offering fresh insights and methodologies.
